ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
We are a youth inspired and youth-led organization set up to propagate the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, popularly known as The Global Goals, along with their 169 targets to all youth across the African continent. We also serve as a bridging ground with youth living in the diaspora who are enthusiasts about Africa’s progression & development by aligning these developments with the 2030 Global Agenda to transform our world.
We craft creative and engaging platforms around the Global goals in a bid to not only raise awareness, but also maintain longevity over the next fifteen years towards youth engagement, participation & adoption of the Global Goals across the African continent. We take into account the high levels of dynamism in youth interests & engagement to ensure that our platforms can sustain a consciousness of youth towards global issues over the next fifteen years, with our goal being sustaining their awareness towards the critical role they play in the success of the Global Agenda to transform our continent & subsequently the entire world by 2030.
On 25th September 2015, 193 world leaders adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals commonly referred to as ‘The Global Goals’, along with their 169 targets taking effect on 1st January 2016. Over the next fifteen years this global agenda will act as a benchmark in mobilizing efforts to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and combat climate change, ensuring that no one is left behind.
The Global Goals are a succession agenda to the Millenium Development Goals which run from 2000 to 2015. While the eight Millenium Development Goals had their successes, their focus was majorly on developing countries. The Global Goals agenda builds on the momentum of the Millenium Development Goals with an agenda that is all encompassing of all countries-the poor, rich and middle income nations. It also invites all members of society to be an integral part of the agenda’s components; to harness economic growth, social inclusion & environmental preservation & protection.
Seeing as Africa is the second most populous continent in the world with a bulk of the population being the youth, youth engagement towards the Global Goals that is active is a vital resource in ensuring that the 2030 Global Agenda is a success on the African continent.
